Family, Food, and Laughter: My Birthday Story

Birthdays are always special, but this year’s celebration was extra meaningful for me. Last April 21, I celebrated my birthday with my family at Samgyupsalamat SM Lanang — and it turned out to be one of the most heartwarming birthdays I've had in a while.

A Birthday to Remember: Celebrating at Samgyupsalamat SM Lanang

The celebration was a treat from my eldest daughter, Mikaela, who arranged everything along with my mother and youngest daughter, Chelsea. We decided to take advantage of Samgyupsalamat's 3+1 Birthday Promo, where the birthday celebrant can eat for free by simply bringing three paying companions and presenting a valid ID. The best part? You get to enjoy this treat on your actual birthday!

As always, Samgyupsalamat didn’t disappoint. The spread of unlimited meats, side dishes, and the fun of grilling at the table made the experience so lively and full of laughter. Sharing stories and just being together over delicious food made me realize how precious these moments are.

I want to add that the Samgyupsalamat service crew are very nice and accommodating.

The place is quite small, but they manage to accommodate customers well by having a waiting system outside — you just need to log your name in their reservation logbook.

The food is the usual fare you'd expect from a samgyupsal restaurant: lots of side dishes and a variety of pork, chicken, and beef for grilling.

For the price, it's very affordable at P649 for unlimited BBQ!

Scoops of Happiness: My Birthday Treat at Giardino Gelato

After our filling lunch, we crossed over to Giardino Gelato, conveniently located just in front of Samgyupsalamat. It was time for a sweet treat! I chose the Sprinkled Red Velvet Gelato — a decision I did not regret. It was smooth, creamy, and had that perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess I was craving for.

When the Message Fades but the Love Remains — My Sweet Sugar Munch Moment

But what’s a birthday without a cake, right?

I’ve always been someone who believes that a birthday isn’t complete without blowing a candle and making a wish. It’s a simple tradition that gives me a deep sense of happiness. Thankfully, my thoughtful youngest daughter, Chelsea, didn’t forget. She bought a cake from Sugar Munch to complete the day!

When we arrived home, we had a little funny moment — the cake’s message was unreadable! Whether it was a frosting mishap or an enthusiastic writing attempt, we couldn’t help but laugh. Honestly, I didn’t mind it at all. What mattered most was the love and thoughtfulness behind it. Plus, the cake tasted amazing — taste like a rich coconut choco flavor that I super liked. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful, love-filled birthday.

This birthday reminded me that celebrations don’t have to be grand to be unforgettable. Sometimes, it’s simply about being with the people you love, sharing good food, laughing over imperfections, and feeling grateful for another year of life.

Until next year!
