We've gotten used to chef's being the superstars in every restaurants we have visited so far, but here in Davao City can you find a farmer with a salivating fan base.
People are talking about this little organic farm, more or less 40 minutes away from downtown Davao (depends on Davao's traffic scene). It's hard to believe that so much fertile beauty exist and a bit close to the heart of the city.
LA FERMETTE (The Small Farmhouse) Dairy Farm and Cafe Bistro opens its door last year as a table d'hôte or "Table of the Host" or "Farm to Table Hosting" concept. Wherein a multi-course meals are served (what is available in the farm) with only few choices are charged at a fixed total price. Now, its the one of the most anticipated restaurants for the farm-to-table set.
With a wall-to-wall French and Filipinos inspired decors.
Menu highlights from soft-spoken French and restaurant owner Jean-Michel Desreumaux together with his partner, Francis Eric Tam both loves to farm and cook at the same time.
These include Bahn-mi Bowl with chorizo (PHp180) and Bahn-mi Bowl with sesame fish fillet (PHp195)
Tarragon Chicken Cream, Poulet Basquaise (Basque Chicken), Adobo a la Carbonade Flamande (Adobong Baboy revisited with a French version), Pork Bourguignion
Signature desserts to look forward --- their cakes (homemade cakes) - a La Fermette's Carrot Cake with granola toppings, Mango Charlotte (ala virgin as our group called it) and Chocolate To Die For with rum is a cake for a hardcore chocolate lovers!
The Fresh Pesto Alugbati Pasta (PHp195) is a divine lite lunch option.

"In France, When I'm still young I've always enjoyed cooking, even though I'm not trained, so initially it started off as a kind of an eating based in the farm. I get this from my grandmother and mother who loves to farm and cook and eventually I took over and ended up looking after the farm, as well enjoyed cooking. And it was a slow process, when I came here in the Philippines to be with my partner Eric, I think of a business that both of us will grow and with our surprised we enjoyed doing being out from a busy life of downtown Davao. Because we're actually both love to live in an urban wherein there is a farm we can plant our seedlings and grew animals like cow, goats, pigs, chicken, etc., and because we are also an advocate of sustainable natural farming, so we decided to have a restaurant called La Fermette," says Jean-Michel.
